Met zowel digitale als analoge technieken maakt Thijs Linssen (*1987) beelden waarin fictie en werkelijkheid door elkaar lopen. Hij refereert daarbij aan cinema, waarin de illusie van het publiek wordt opgewekt door het filmdecor. In zijn digitale animatieproject Suspended Nature, waar hij naar aanleiding van zijn verblijf in de Geheime Bunker aan werkt, draait Thijs Linssen dit proces om: de werkelijkheid zoals die zich in de natuur voordoet, transformeert hij door middel van scans tot een digitale filmset, waar de kijker als in een game doorheen navigeert. Maar wie langer kijkt, ontdekt dat alle bomen en struiken een grijze, lege achterzijde hebben. Zij vormen een analogie met de achterzijdes van de filmsets zoals die in de Hollywood studio’s te vinden zijn. Door die achterkanten niet te verhullen, maar juist te tonen, maakt het werk van Thijs Linssen de kijker ervan bewust hoe zeer werkelijkheid en manipulatie op elkaar lijken.

Thijs Linssen (*1987) uses both digital and analogue techniques to create images in which fiction and reality intertwine. He refers to cinema, in which the illusion of the audience is generated by the film set. In his digital animation project Suspended Nature, which he is working on as a result of his stay in the Secret Bunker, Thijs Linssen reverses this process: reality as it occurs in nature is transformed by means of scans into a digital film set, where the viewer navigates through as in a game. But if you take a closer look, you will discover that all trees and shrubs have a gray, empty backside. They form an analogy with the backs of the film sets as found in the Hollywood studios. By not hiding those backs, but showing them, Thijs Linssen's work makes the viewer aware of how much reality and manipulation resemble each other.
